This includes laptops, desktops, servers, mobile phones, tablets and any other device used to access business systems, email, files or customer data.

How to answer

Think about both company-owned and personally-owned devices. This should include office computers, remote workers, spare laptops, old machines still used occasionally, phones with work email, tablets, servers, and any device used by directors or staff to access business data.

Cyber Essentials starts with knowing what needs to be protected. If a device is missed, it may also miss important security controls such as updates, antivirus, screen locking and access restrictions.
